Where to Stay for a Concert at the Forum in Assago (Milan)

You have your ticket for the Forum and you’re wondering where to spend the night. The answer depends mostly on how you’re getting there and how late you want to be heading back. Assago is on the southern edge of Milan, which makes things quite different from going to a show at San Siro.

Assago from the A1: geography works in your favour

If you’re driving in from Bologna, Parma or Piacenza, the Forum is almost on your way: from the A1 motorway you reach Milan’s southern area without crossing the city. That’s the main advantage for anyone coming from elsewhere in Italy or from further afield by car, for example on a road trip down from Switzerland or Austria. The flip side is the end of the night: thousands of people leaving at the same moment means queues at the car parks and heavy traffic on the access roads. If you plan to drive after the concert, allow yourself a bit of patience.

Stay in Milan or outside the city?

Staying close to the Forum often means choosing between places that are in very high demand on concert nights and a base further away that you reach by public transport. A practical alternative is to stay in Piacenza, in the historic centre, which is easily connected to Milan by train: you go to the concert, head back, and sleep in a quiet town, with breakfast and a relaxed check-out the next morning. If you’re flying into Milan, it’s also a handy way to avoid the city’s busiest nights.

Roma284 is a 50 m² two-room apartment at Via Roma 284, with a private patio and a fully equipped kitchen, sleeping up to 4 guests. Self check-in with a smart lock is available from 3:00 PM, so you don’t need to coordinate with anyone whether you arrive in the afternoon or late in the evening. Check-out is at 10:00 AM. The train station is about a 9-minute walk away, and pets are always welcome free of charge, which is handy if you’re travelling with your dog.

Who this isn’t right for

Let’s be clear: if you want to walk out of the Forum and be in your room within a few minutes, Piacenza isn’t for you. It’s a fair distance from Assago, and after the concert the evening connections mean checking the last train times or having a car. If you have a car and a parking spot sorted, driving back along the A1 is doable, but after a long night not everyone feels like getting behind the wheel. In that case, look for accommodation closer to Milan’s southern area. For more help planning your trip, take a look at our guides to events and concerts.

Parking and practical planning

For the Forum, it’s worth checking the official parking information in advance and arriving with plenty of time to spare. If you stay in Piacenza, you leave the car nearby and travel by train, without worrying about parking or traffic at the end of the night. If you’re driving instead, plan your departure with the late-night return in mind, and if you need to recharge, there’s 1 Gbit/s fibre WiFi so you can work or sort out your plans calmly.

In short

  • Assago is south of Milan: from the A1 you can reach it without crossing the city.
  • After the concert, traffic and car park queues are the real pain point.
  • Piacenza, connected to Milan by train, is a quiet base if you don’t need a room a few steps from the Forum.
  • Self check-in from 3:00 PM, check-out at 10:00 AM, private patio, and pets welcome free of charge.
  • Always check the late-evening train times before you decide.

If you’d like a quiet place to stay after the concert, check availability: when you book direct, you can save up to 15% less.
